Before the expansion, the emergency and maternity areas faced habitual saturation; patients were treated in reduced spaces and waiting times were prolonged.\n\nThe lack of adequate areas for patient classification (triage), observation, and immediate care limited the efficiency of the service, especially in critical situations.<\/a>\n\nThe project reflects international cooperation in health, with the United States supporting investments, prevention, and response to epidemics in Honduras.\n\nThe new emergency room was designed to address these limitations. The space incorporates specific areas for triage, waiting rooms, observation, and differentiated care, with the aim of streamlining patient flow and improving the quality of service.\n\nWith this expansion, the hospital will be able to handle between 2,000 and 3,000 monthly emergencies<\/strong>, in addition to approximately 250 births each month<\/strong>, data that reflects the magnitude of the demand in the area.\n\nThe equipment includes basic medical supplies and furniture, key elements that allow proper functioning in daily care.\n\n\n

Bilateral Cooperation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nThe benefit of this work goes beyond the municipality of La Paz. Estimates indicate that more than 450,000 people<\/strong> in five departments will have access to more efficient and timely care.\n\nIn regions where access to more complex hospitals is limited, centers like the Roberto Suazo C\u00f3rdova<\/strong> are essential for handling emergencies, childbirth, and common illnesses.\n\nThe project reflects international cooperation in health, with the United States supporting investments, prevention, and response to epidemics in Honduras.\n\nThis makes the new room a key piece within the public health network, especially for rural and hard-to-reach communities.\n\nThe participation of United States<\/strong> in this project reflects a sustained line of cooperation in the health field. Staff Assignment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nDespite the progress represented by the new infrastructure, the main challenge remains sustainability over time.
