Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2013 In an event that included the participation of\u00a0President Luis Abinader,<\/strong>\u00a0the president of the\u00a0National Central<\/a> of United Retailers<\/strong>\u00a0(CNDU),\u00a0Ricardo Rosario<\/strong>, assured that, despite the\u00a0international impact<\/strong>\u00a0generated by the conflict with Iran, in the Dominican Republic\u00a0prices of essential products have remained stable<\/strong>\u00a0thanks to the\u00a0Government’s support for farmers<\/strong>\u00a0and the maintenance of\u00a0strategic subsidies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nWhile speaking at the closing of the Second National Retail Business Convention<\/strong>, Rosario highlighted that the State has allocated resources for fertilizers<\/strong> and has maintained subsidies on fuels<\/strong>, avoiding increases in the basic basket and guaranteeing supply at the main points of sale in the country.\n\nThe leader stated that these actions have allowed the protection of more than a million families <\/strong>beneficiaries of social programs, while maintaining the balance in food prices<\/strong> of greatest consumption. He indicated that retail trade continues to be a key pillar<\/strong> in national distribution, by ensuring the population’s access to basic products without significant alterations<\/strong> in their costs.\n\nHe also reported that, as part of the agreements with distributors, the price of chicken will be reduced to 53 pesos in Gran Santo Domingo, a measure that will also be extended to the Eastern region. Finally, he reiterated the willingness of the retail sector to continue collaborating with the Government in the consolidation of purchases, the formalization of SMEs and the strengthening of colmados as the main channel to guarantee fair prices to the population.\n\n\n

The president recalled that his administration has faced complex scenarios<\/strong>, such as the pandemic, the inflation derived from the invasion of Russia to Ukraine<\/strong>, natural events and the current international uncertainty<\/strong>, considered one of the most difficult of the last decades.\n\nThe Head of State highlighted that the key to overcoming these situations has been the coordination between the Government, civil society, producers, and merchants<\/strong>, which has allowed reducing the impact of each crisis and turning the country into a regional benchmark. In that sense, he informed that the Dominican economy registered a growth of 4%<\/strong> during the first quarter of the year and assured that the authorities are working to prevent the international situation from affecting that performance.\n\n\n

Upon concluding his words, the president maintained that, regardless of global storms or crises, the Dominican Republic will continue to move forward<\/strong> if it maintains unity, joint work, and determination<\/strong> to continue growing for the benefit of all Dominicans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also reported that the Ministry is promoting a formalization plan to reach 350,000 mipymes<\/strong> registered by the year 2028<\/strong>, after having already formalized more than 54,000 businesses<\/strong>.\n\nSanz Lovat\u00f3n explained that formalization opens the doors to financing, investments, and new opportunities<\/strong> for thousands of merchants throughout the country. In addition, he highlighted the measures implemented to maintain stability in times of crisis, such as credit fairs<\/strong> with preferential rates, the strengthening of funds for Promipyme<\/strong> and the subsidy for fertilizers, which has contributed to maintaining more stable prices<\/strong> on essential products.\n\nThe minister also cited recent economic indicators that reflect the country’s dynamism, including the best month of exports recorded in March<\/strong>, the sustained increase in manufacturing, and economic growth exceeding 5 %<\/strong>. According to him, these results have even motivated the upward revision of projections by international organizations for 2026 and demonstrate the positive impact<\/strong> of the public-private<\/strong> partnership to continue driving national development.\n\n\n

Similarly, he valued the leadership of President Luis Abinader<\/strong> in situations such as the pandemic and international conflicts<\/strong> that have impacted the world economy, and asked the president to continue supporting the sector to continue guaranteeing economic stability<\/strong> in the country.\n\nOn his part, the president of the General Warehouse Confederation of the Argentine Republic (CGA), Daniel Acu\u00f1a<\/strong>, highlighted the support of President Abinader and his team for local commerce, emphasizing that this sector maintains direct contact<\/strong> with the communities and knows the needs of the population up close. He also expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of experiences between Argentina and the Dominican Republic.<\/strong>\n\n\n
