{"id":506781,"date":"2026-05-06T19:31:28","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T23:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/national-irrigation-technicalization-highlights-advances-in-agricultural-modernization-during-conference\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T19:31:28","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T23:31:28","slug":"national-irrigation-technicalization-highlights-advances-in-agricultural-modernization-during-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/national-irrigation-technicalization-highlights-advances-in-agricultural-modernization-during-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"National Irrigation Technicalization highlights advances in agricultural modernization during conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>Santo Domingo.-<\/strong> Four <strong>experts<\/strong> from the <strong>academic, agribusiness, and international cooperation sectors<\/strong> deeply analyzed the <strong>achievements, goals, and challenges of technified irrigation<\/strong> in the Dominican Republic, within the framework of the <strong>fifth anniversary<\/strong> of the Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technification <strong>(TNR),<\/strong> with the aim of evaluating the <strong>advances, challenges, and perspectives<\/strong> of the modernization of irrigation in the country.\n\nThe conference featured presentations by <strong>Osmar Ben\u00edtez<\/strong>, president of the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD); <strong>Gabriela Quiroga Gilardoni<\/strong>, representative of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in the Dominican Republic; <strong>Silvio Carrasco<\/strong>, director of the Water Unit of PUCMM, and <strong>Danilo Cruz<\/strong>, secretary of the Dominican Association of Agricultural Technology Suppliers (Adoproteca), who agreed that the technification of irrigation constitutes a <strong>strategic axis<\/strong> to guarantee <strong>agricultural sustainability<\/strong> and face the challenges of <strong>climate change<\/strong> in the country.\n\n<strong>Manuel Mejia<\/strong>, head of Planning and Development at TNR, highlighted the main&nbsp;<strong>advances achieved during the last five years<\/strong>, a period in which the institution has promoted initiatives aimed at modernizing the irrigation system and promoting a&nbsp;<strong>more efficient use of water in national agricultural production<\/strong>. Priority was given to the implementation and expansion of&nbsp;<strong>technologies<\/strong>&nbsp;such as&nbsp;<strong>drip<\/strong>&nbsp;irrigation, &nbsp;<strong>micro-sprinkling<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>photovoltaic pumping<\/strong>, systems that have allowed to optimize the&nbsp;<strong>use of water resources<\/strong>&nbsp;and improve&nbsp;<strong>productivity<\/strong>&nbsp;in various areas of the country, in addition, the institution has trained more than<strong>&nbsp;7,500 producers<\/strong>&nbsp;in the last five years.\n\n\n<p><strong>Claudio Caama\u00f1o V\u00e9lez<\/strong>, director of TNR, highlighted that, through the Fund for the Promotion of the Technification of the National Irrigation System&nbsp;<strong>(Fotesir)<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>14 calls<\/strong>&nbsp;have been made throughout the country, providing&nbsp;<strong>non-refundable incentives<\/strong>&nbsp;that have reduced production costs and improved water efficiency. &nbsp;Likewise, he emphasized the&nbsp;<strong>Bagri-Riego<\/strong>&nbsp;program, developed together with the Agricultural Bank (Bagr\u00edcola), focused on facilitating&nbsp;<strong>technification<\/strong>&nbsp;through&nbsp;<strong>financing with accessible rates.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nFrom his side, <strong>Fernando Dur\u00e1n<\/strong>, administrator of Bagr\u00edcola, reiterated the commitment of the institution he leads to agricultural development and highlighted that <strong>the alliance between TNR and Banco Agr\u00edcola is a step forward<\/strong>.\n\n\n<p><strong>National Photovoltaic Call<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the framework of the panel-conference held, the TNR and the Agricultural Bank announced the opening of a&nbsp;<strong>national photovoltaic call, for RD 30 million<\/strong>, aimed at promoting the efficient use of&nbsp;<strong>solar energy<\/strong>&nbsp;in the agricultural sector. It is aimed at photovoltaic projects whose&nbsp;<strong>installation capacity does not exceed 60 kilowatts<\/strong>&nbsp;and will be open until July 13.
