He explained that the center will allow patients with cancer to receive specialized treatment<\/strong> in the province, avoiding having to travel to Santo Domingo to access those medical services.\n\nThe president also referred to other transformation projects being carried out in Barahona, including the intervention of the docks and the construction of apartments to relocate families living in shacks. In addition, he proposed the creation of a community volunteer program to collaborate in the care and preservation of the new hospital facilities, while expressing his confidence that the works will contribute to substantially improve health and quality of life throughout the region.\n\nThe central words of the event were given by the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio C\u00e9sar Landr\u00f3n, who highlighted that the Dr. Jaime S\u00e1nchez Regional Maternal and Child Hospital was built on more than 4,000 square meters, with an investment exceeding RD 494 million<\/strong> destined for both infrastructure and state-of-the-art medical equipment, with the purpose of strengthening the response capacity of the health system in the Southern region and offering more accessible and higher quality medical services for thousands of citizens.\n\nThe official highlighted that the population and tourism growth in the south of the country demands health services that match the investments promoted by the Government, which is why the hospital was conceived as a strategic work to strengthen the region's health network.\n\n\n
