{"id":511118,"date":"2026-06-13T16:01:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T20:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/minister-of-defense-meets-with-southern-command\/"},"modified":"2026-06-13T16:01:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T20:01:33","slug":"minister-of-defense-meets-with-southern-command","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/minister-of-defense-meets-with-southern-command\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister of Defense meets with Southern Command"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2013 The Minister of Defense, <strong>Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fern\u00e1ndez Onofre<\/strong> <strong>(ERD)<\/strong>, received a delegation from the <strong>United States Southern Command<\/strong> (USSOUTHCOM) at his official office, led by its Deputy Commander, <strong>Lieutenant General Evan Pettus<\/strong>, and <strong>Sergeant Major Rafael Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, Senior Enlisted Leader of the United States Southern Command and a member of the United States of America <strong>Marine Corps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting constituted a space of <strong>high strategic value<\/strong> to continue strengthening the mechanisms of <strong>cooperation, coordination, and exchange of experiences<\/strong> between the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic and the United States, addressing issues of common interest related to <strong>regional security, the development of operational capabilities, the education and training<\/strong> of military personnel, as well as interoperability between both institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, the authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continue promoting <strong>joint initiatives<\/strong> that contribute to strengthening the preparation, professionalization, and modernization of the Armed Forces, for the benefit of the <strong>stability and security of the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend reading:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visit evidences the <strong>excellent level of relations<\/strong> maintained by the Armed Forces of both nations, sustained by decades of <strong>cooperation, mutual trust, and shared objectives,<\/strong> consolidating a <strong>strategic alliance<\/strong> that has allowed for the development of important training, technical assistance, and professional exchange programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accompanying the Minister of Defense were the Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Army, <strong>Major General Jorge Iv\u00e1n Camino P\u00e9rez (ERD)<\/strong>; the Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Navy, <strong>Vice Admiral Juan Bienvenido Cris\u00f3stomo Mart\u00ednez (ARD)<\/strong>; the Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Air Force, <strong>Major General Pilot Floreal T.
