Army seizes 50,000 contraband cigarettes and alcoholic beverages in Dajab\u00f3n

Dajab\u00f3n<\/strong>. \u2013 Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) seized 50,000 contraband cigarettes at various points in Dajab\u00f3n province, as part of ongoing actions to combat illicit trade in the border area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one of the operations, ERD soldiers seized 150 packs of Capital brand cigarettes, with 200 units per pack, for a total of 30,000 cigarettes, in the Villa Codepo sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The merchandise was being transported by two men carrying two bundles, who fled upon detecting the presence of the military patrol, leaving the cargo abandoned. The cigarettes were transported to the Beller Fortress, where they remain in custody for the corresponding legal purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In another operation, members of the ERD Inspectorate in Loma de Cabrera detected two individuals in the La Hoya section, near the municipal dump of Loma de Cabrera, who threw two sacks and fled the scene upon noticing the presence of the troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon inspecting the sacks, the soldiers found 100 packs of Capital brand cigarettes, equivalent to 20,000 units, as well as 48 bottles of 8PM brand rum, merchandise that was seized for the corresponding legal procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these actions, the Army seized a total of 50,000 contraband cigarettes and 48 bottles of alcoholic beverages, preventing their illegal commercialization in Dominican territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
