Santo Domingo.– La escena cultural dominicana está de luto. Este sábado 22 de marzo de 2025 falleció Iván García a los 86 años, destacado actor, director, dramaturgo y maestro del teatro, uno de los pilares de las artes escénicas en la República Dominicana.
La triste noticia fue confirmada por el actor y ex-viceministro de Cultura, Giovanny Cruz, who received the information through a call from director Mario Lebrón.

Born on February 26, 1938 in San Pedro de Macorís, Ivan Guerra dedicated more than six decades of theater, literature and teaching, becoming a central figure in Dominican art. His legacy extends to hundreds of plays, published books, film productions, and generations of artists trained under his guidance.

En el año 2015, García Guerra was recognized with the prestigious Gran Soberano, the highest award given by the Premios Soberano, for his career and significant contributions to national culture.

In addition to his artistic career, Iván García also stood out as educator, founding schools and theater training programs, including the García Theater School in Puerto Plata. He was director of the National Theater, the Fine Arts Theater, and numerous cultural institutions in the country. His work has been recognized with numerous national and international awards.
