San Juan.- And 4.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded this Thursday in the south of Puerto Rico, with no tsunami warnings or advisories issued and no damage caused.
The epicenter of the tremor was reported at around 5:06 local time (9:06 GMT) about 7.35 kilometers south-southwest of Guayanilla, according to the Puerto Rico Seismic Network.
The Seismic Network reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 13 kilometers and that its maximum estimated intensity was V (five) in Guánica.
Residents of that municipality, as well as Ponce, Utuado, Arecibo, Sabana Grande, Yauco, Lajas, and Juana Díaz, among others, reported on social media that they had felt the tremor.

The earthquake coincides with the Caribbean Wave 2025 tsunami drill, that the authorities will carry out today to educate the population on how to react to this situation and reinforce evacuation plans.
Tremors are common on the island, which experienced strong earthquakes in January 2020 that caused significant damage.
