Holy Sunday.- The Presidency of the Republic and the Mayor's Office of the National District presented the Integrated Plan of Santo Domingo, A strategy based on the axes of urban development, sustainability, and mobility, to transform the capital with coordinated management under a clear vision for the future.

Road connectivity between major highways, protection of the historic center, and the expansion of strategic infrastructure for tourism and the economy are some of the objectives of this ambitious plan, which would directly impact Santo Domingo's Malecón.

It also includes the creation of new public spaces, green areas, sports facilities, and a more efficient mobility system that will benefit both drivers and pedestrians.

“This is much more than a plan; it's a commitment to the future, to the quality of life of our people, and to the urban transformation we deserve together. We are building the Santo Domingo of tomorrow. Together, we are transforming the Dominican Republic,” said Mayor Carolina Mejía.

The project has already begun on Paseo 30 de Mayo, where a large park designed for community coexistence and enjoyment is being built on the grounds of the former Maharishi School, with access from Avenida Independencia to the monument to the Heroes of May 30.

The Sports Boardwalk will feature more than 50,000 m² of green areas, recreational and meeting spaces, and walking and cycling paths. A parking garage will also be located in front of the building.

In addition, it will have infrastructure that will be part of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, strengthening the country's capacity to host high-level sporting events.

Bridge and marina

As part of the Santo Domingo Integrated Plan, the construction of the Los Trinitarios Bridge is proposed, a solution that would alleviate traffic congestion in the city's historic center. This bridge would divert intercity traffic and reduce pressure on the Colonial City, Gazcue, and New City, areas of significant historical and cultural value. Its implementation will be evaluated based on its impact and feasibility within the capital's urban development.

Likewise, a new marina and cruise port located across from the iconic Jaragua Hotel. With this infrastructure, Santo Domingo is projected as a destination with greater global connectivity, opening up new opportunities for tourism and economic development.
