Tayluma Calderón submits a bill to amend the Social Security System

Holy Sunday.- With the aim of being able to adapt the Dominican Republic to the new trends in terms of economy and social security, the deputy of the People's Strength by the province of Santo Domingo, Tayluma Calderón, submitted a bill with the purpose of modifying several articles of the Law 87-01 that creates the Dominican Social Security System.

The congresswoman cited among the articles: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 35, 36, 38, 39, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 55, 95, 103, 109, 110, 119, 120, 122, 123, 129, 133, 140, 152 and 173, of Law No. 87-01, of May 9, 2001.

“Our country in recent decades has had the urgent need for the fundamental rights of citizens to be protected Regarding the risks of illness, old age, disability, unemployment due to advanced age, maternity, childhood, and occupational risks," Tayluma Calderón pointed out.

The bill also proposes amending Articles 56 and 86, as amended by Law No. 13-20 of February 7, 2020, which itself amends Law No. 87-01 of May 9, 2001, which created the Dominican Social Security System. It also amends Article 66 of Law No. 41-08 on the Civil Service and creates the Secretariat of State for Public Administration.

"This is a public debt that this National Congress owes to all Dominicans, so that they can once and for all enjoy true social security and the insecurities of this system can be eradicated," stated the congresswoman from the province of Santo Domingo.

Tayluma Calderón called on representatives from various political organizations to work as a single body, along with the Permanent Commission on Social Security of the Chamber of Deputies.

"This great project will restore peace of mind to all citizens, because we are fully convinced that with the support of all legislators from the different parties, we will strengthen and reinforce this bill with appropriate modifications for the well-being of all Dominicans," he stated.
