Santo Domingo. – With the start of the Major League season just around the corner, it is projected that at least 82 Dominican players will be part of the rosters of the 30 teams for the Opening Day.
Although the season officially begins this Tuesday in Tokyo, Japan, with the confrontation between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs, the rest of the teams will debut on Thursday, March 28.
In these last days of the spring training, the teams define their final rosters. Although the rosters are not yet final, the tool “RosterResource” de FanGraphs allows to project which Dominican players will start the campaign in the MLB.
Dominicans in the Major Leagues
According to these projections, 82 Dominicans will be in the active rosters for the start of the season, not counting the 11 players set to start on the injured list.
It is worth noting that the list does not include a Mark Winds (Mets) and Austin Wells (Yankees), players with Dominican descent who have expressed interest in representing Dominican Republic in it World Baseball ClassicHowever, figures such as Manny Machado (Padres) and Willi Castro (Twins).
The team with more Dominican players on their Opening Day roster are the Seattle Mariners, while the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox They will not have any Dominican representative.
