BOGOTÁ.- The connection between two of the greatest exponents of Latin music, Shakira and Karol G, was recently made evident in an emotional exchange of messages on social media.
After the Barranquilla native successfully completed her four concerts in Colombia, “La Bichota” did not hesitate to express her pride and admiration.
“Yesterday (February 27) was Shakira’s last concert in Colombia and I really can’t ignore the pride and emotion I felt from afar, just knowing what she might be feeling singing at home. In addition to being sure of the emotion that those present must have felt,” Karol G wrote on her Instagram account, after several months without posting.
The native of Paisa highlighted Shakira's global impact and her unparalleled legacy in the music industry: “Her songs and her story have represented our country and the Latin industry around the world for decades. It is very inspiring to see her shining today like never before, or rather, shining like always. A hug from afar, enjoy it all and may the successes continue.”
Shakira was quick to respond to the gesture with affection and gratitude, dispelling any speculation of rivalry between the two: “Thank you, Karol, for your lovely message! You were with me every time I sang TQG! I can’t wait to have you on stage with me to celebrate together!” she wrote on her Instagram stories, reposting Karol G’s message.
After her last performance in her home country, Shakira expressed her excitement and left open the possibility of meeting her fans again soon in Medellin, the city where she had to cancel her scheduled show.
“I am leaving without wanting to leave, but I am excited and remembering all your faces, your hugs, your love, your company, your support, the sparkle in your eyes. I am very emotional today, but it is no wonder because these have been unforgettable nights,” she wrote on her WhatsApp channel.
Finally, the artist reaffirmed her commitment to her fans in the capital of Antioquia: “Thank you Barranquilla, thank you Bogotá, and I owe you the most special show of my life, Medellín. I will be with you very soon.”
Shakira performed in Barranquilla with two massive concerts attended by more than 50,000 people each night. She then took her show to Bogotá, where she gave two performances at the El Campín stadium, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her fans.
