Washington.- He President of the United States, Donald Trump, asked the Pentagon to prepare several plans for his idea of retaking control of the Panama Canal, as reported this Thursday by the NBC network.
Among the plans being considered by the Southern Command would be the dispatch of U.S. troops in coordination with Panamanian authorities, or the more drastic option of using force.
According to NBC, which quotes two US officials familiar with the plans, everything depends on the cooperation that the Panamanian military agrees to have with Washington.
Trump has repeatedly reiterated his interest in regaining control of the Panama Canal in recent weeks, which it claims has fallen into Chinese hands, something the Central American nation denies.
