The Kremlin confirms plans for a phone call between Putin and Trump on Tuesday.

Moscow.- The Kremlin confirmed today the plans for a telephone conversation this Tuesday between the Russian, Vladimir Putin, and the American, Donald Trump.

«Yes, that is indeed the case. This conversation is being prepared for Tuesday.", said Dmitry Peskov, presidential spokesperson, in his daily telephone press conference.

Peskov was responding to a question about Trump's statement on Sunday that he intends to speak by phone with his Russian counterpart on March 18.

Last week, Putin expressed his willingness to discuss with Trump his concerns about the proposed 30-day truce in Ukraine, which kyiv has already accepted.

In response to the proposal, he stated that Russia supports a truce, but sees many problems in implementing and verifying a ceasefire, and in preventing kyiv from taking advantage of the respite to regroup and rearm.

Regarding this, Trump stated: "I think he'll agree. I really do. I think I know him pretty well, and I think he'll agree."

If he doesn't accept it, he added, it will be "bad news for the world, because many people are dying."

Trump asked Putin to take pity on Ukrainian troops who are still resisting in the Russian region of Kursk, to which the Russian leader assured that he would spare their lives if they laid down their arms and surrendered, although he considered them "terrorists."

The two leaders spoke for the first time on February 12, during which they agreed to begin a negotiation process to end the conflict in Ukraine.
