• 1808: The city of Valladolid (Spain) riots against the French invaders, as had happened in Madrid at the beginning of the month.
• 1852: in San Nicolás de los Arroyos (Argentina) the Agreement of San Nicolás is signed, which will be the prototype of the National Constitution of 1853.
• 1885: in Spain, José Zorrilla takes possession as holder of chair L of the Royal Spanish Academy with the speech Autobiography and poetic self-portrait.
• 1889: in the United States, two days of heavy rain break the South Fork dam. Due to previous false alarms, no safety measures are taken and 2209 people die.
• 1910: South Africa becomes independent from the British Empire.

• 1989: in a bar in Tarapoto (Peru), members of the terrorist group MRTA assassinate eight transvestites. A few days later, they declared that homosexuals were "social scourges used to corrupt the youth".
• 1993: in the city of Guatemala, Jorge Serrano Elías resigns from his position as president.
• 2010: in the Mediterranean Sea, the Israeli army attacks a series of ships that were heading towards Gaza with humanitarian aid, arguing that they were transporting weapons.
• 2022: the album Aguilera by Christina Aguilera is released.
