Santo Domingo.– The Government of the Dominican Republic reported that the country reached 37 points in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), consolidating a trend of sustained improvement over time and positioning itself among the small group of countries that have achieved continuous progress in this indicator internationally. The Corruption Perceptions Index is a strategic indicator for monitoring the National Development Strategy, as it allows for the evaluation, from a comparative perspective, of the progress of States in terms of public integrity, transparency, and institutional quality. In this context, the result achieved by the country reflects an accumulated improvement in the last five years, evidencing consistent and verifiable progress in the strengthening of public management and democratic institutions. This indicates a perceptible advance of nine (9) points since 2020, reflecting a thirty-two percent (32%) improvement in the overall score and a rise of thirty-three (33) positions in the global ranking in that same period, consolidating an unprecedented positive evolution in recent times. This performance takes on special relevance when translated into an eight (8) position rise in the general ranking and by allowing, for the first time since the expansion of the ranking of evaluated countries, the Dominican Republic to be among the top 100 countries worldwide, evidencing significant and historically relevant advances in the perception of public management and institutional strengthening efforts.

Likewise, in the comparative measurement, the Dominican Republic surpasses countries with lower scores, such as Mexico (31), El Salvador (31), Honduras (23) and Nicaragua (17), which highlights the relative progress achieved compared to other nations in the region. The positive evolution of this indicator not only strengthens the country's relative position in the international arena, but also reaffirms the effectiveness of public policies aimed at preventing and combating corruption, in line with the strategic objectives of long-term national planning. The Government reiterated its commitment to continue promoting regulatory reforms, institutional strengthening, and control mechanisms, transparency, and accountability, as fundamental pillars to consolidate citizen trust and guarantee ethical, efficient public management oriented towards sustainable development. He also highlighted that these results constitute an incentive to deepen public integrity actions, in line with the guidelines of the National Development Strategy and with the commitments assumed by the Dominican Republic in terms of democratic governance and the fight against corruption.
