The president of the Special Commission that reviewed the initiative, Congressman Amado Díaz, when considering the new law, explained that with the legislative piece, the window is opened to the citizenry and the Dominican business community interested in building homes and commercial premises for rent.
"But the simple fact of being here today knowing a rent bill with all the benefits that this project has is already synonymous with progress. We have been handling rental issues for 67 years with a decree from 1959 that if we go back to the date we observe that it is from the Trujillo era," explained Amado Díaz.
While Pacheco, when motivating the legislative piece, highlighted the work that has been exhausted in the study of the initiative during several legislatures.
"Therefore, I congratulate the special commission led by Representative Amado Díaz, because he called for public hearings, but before them there was another commission that I also congratulate, because it brought the project to the point so that it could be better digested by society, which was led by colleague Eugenio Cedeño, who also held public hearings," Pacheco pointed out.
He added that with the Law on Rental of Real Estate and Evictions, the country will be provided with a law that guarantees the rights of property owners, as well as tenants, which, he assured, will allow the reduction in the cost of rental properties in the Dominican Republic.
The legislative initiative had the favorable vote of the deputies from the different party benches, who, prior to submitting it to a vote, took turns to highlight how beneficial the new law will be for the country.
