The artist, a native of the municipality of Guayabal, in the province of Azua, died after his vehicle caught fire after colliding with a parked truck, according to the local media Sandhills Sentinel.
The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m., near the intersection of Highway 24-27 and Lizzie Jeter Lane. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found a Toyota Camry engulfed in flames, which had veered off the road and violently impacted a dump truck parked near a residence.
Witnesses indicated that a pedestrian managed to pull the driver out of the car before the fire spread completely. A nurse who was in the vicinity attempted to perform resuscitation maneuvers, but the effort was in vain, as the musician was declared dead at the scene.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that Franklin "The Boss" was traveling alone and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Although investigations are ongoing, the authorities have not yet revealed the possible causes of the event.
