Fifteen boats with 260 Maghrebi and sub-Saharan immigrants arrived irregularly to the Spanish Balearic Islands (Balearic Islands) (Mediterranean) between Tuesday and this Wednesday from Algeria, security and rescue services reported.
The last five arrived last night with 92 people, while on Tuesday 168 people who arrived in ten boats were rescued or intercepted on land.
So far this year, 384 of those precarious boats have arrived in the Balearic Islands with 7,160 migrants, according to EFE's count based on data from the Spanish authorities.

During 2024, 5,882 immigrants arrived at the archipelago by sea, according to the National Security Annual Report of the Ministry of the Interior. This increase is simultaneous with a significant decrease in migratory pressure on the Atlantic archipelago of the Canary Islands from the African continent. Between January and last November, 16,807 people had arrived irregularly, 59.4% less than in the same period of 2024.
