Selena Gomez and her mother face a lawsuit for alleged fraud related to their mental health company

United States.- Selena Gomez and her mother, Mandy Teefey, are facing a federal lawsuit in Delaware over alleged fraud related to Wondermind, the mental wellness platform they both co-founded in 2022 alongside entrepreneur Daniella Pierson.

The legal action was filed by the companies Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, whose representatives claim to have invested more than 1.2 million dollars in the project after receiving information that, they allege, offered a favorable image regarding the company’s conditions, potential, and growth prospects.

According to court documents, the plaintiffs maintain that Wondermind’s founders and executives did not timely inform them about the financial and operational problems the company was experiencing.

Investors allege that Wondermind was presented as a platform with sufficient infrastructure, leadership, and resources to become a profitable business within the mental wellness sector.

However, they maintain that several of the announced initiatives never materialized and that the application that was supposedly to be part of the project was not developed either.

The lawsuit also questions Selena Gomez’s role in promoting the company. According to investors, the singer allegedly made commitments related to the promotion of Wondermind through her social media, advertising deals, and public appearances.

The plaintiffs consider that those commitments were not met in the expected manner and that the situation contributed to the deterioration of the project.

A crisis that had already been reported

Wondermind’s problems had become public before the lawsuit was filed.

In May 2025, Forbes reported that the company had significantly reduced its workforce, laying off nine of its 15 employees. Debts to freelancers and suppliers were also reported at that time.

Months later, a report by The Cut described a scenario of financial and operational difficulties within the company. The plaintiffs claim that it was after that report, published in September 2025, that they became aware of the magnitude of the problems Wondermind was going through.

The lawsuit also mentions alleged personal tensions between Selena Gomez and Mandy Teefey.

According to investors, those conflicts had caused Gomez to distance herself from Wondermind and affected the ability of both to continue working together on the project.

The document also includes an exchange of messages between Teefey and Andrew Resnick, a member of Bespoke, which took place in April. When Resnick asked about the status of the company and the destination of certain investments, Teefey reportedly referred the inquiries to Selena Gomez’s legal team.

The lawsuit includes Daniella Pierson, who participated in the founding of Wondermind and subsequently left the company after an internal dispute with Teefey.

Investors are pointing to her for alleged statements that, according to them, influenced their decision to invest and their expectations regarding the business’s performance.

The file also questions the use of names of recognized figures in materials related to Wondermind. The plaintiffs claim that an alleged interest or confirmation from celebrities and personalities such as Camila Cabello, Tim Cook, Elton John, Drake, and Megan Thee Stallion was mentioned for certain projects.

Mandy Teefey has rejected previous accusations

Teefey had already publicly denied allegations that arose regarding her performance within Wondermind. Following accusations made by former employees and reported by media outlets, she maintained that they were false claims spread by disgruntled workers.

The new lawsuit, however, places the company and its founders before a judicial process in which investors seek to recover the money contributed.

The plaintiffs are seeking the return of their investment, in addition to damages, costs, and legal fees. They have also requested that the case be submitted to a jury.
