Santo Domingo. As part of DiDi’s commitment to developing safety features available to its users, the application is incorporating PIN Code, a feature that generates a unique, random numeric code to verify that the passenger and the driver correctly match before starting a trip request, reducing the risk of boarding the wrong vehicle. This safety feature arrives just in time to protect the requests of passengers and drivers during one of the busiest times of the year: summer.
According to data from the application, during the weekends of this season in 2025, activity on the app grew by 7.3% compared to the rest of the weekends of the year. During that period, areas such as Piantini, Naco, the Colonial Zone, the Malecón, and Iberoamérica Park concentrated greater activity, reflecting how Dominicans move toward spaces for recreation, gastronomy, and entertainment.
Regarding this new feature, Douglas Quesada, Senior Communications Manager for DiDi, points out: “At DiDi, we work continuously to strengthen the technological solutions available in the app and support the user experience. The incorporation of the PIN Code responds to that commitment by adding a verification mechanism that strengthens security functions from the start of the trip request and contributes to continuing to promote a connection between supply and demand backed by innovative and reliable security technological solutions.”

Technology at the service of users
The PIN Code feature adds to the ecosystem of security features available in the app, aimed at supporting both passenger and driver users before, during, and after each trip request. These include the ability to share the route in real-time with trusted contacts, the protection of personal information through anonymous phone numbers, and audio recording during requests.
This latest feature, available to both passenger and driver users, allows for the manual or automatic recording of trip request audio to facilitate incident documentation and support investigation processes when necessary. It can be activated from the app’s Safety Center, and recordings are stored in an encrypted format, meaning they can only be used in the event an incident is reported, in accordance with the platform’s data protection standards.
Overall, these security features seek to support the experience before starting a trip request, during it, and until its completion, incorporating different layers of verification, protection, and assistance.
Currently, 99.99% of trip requests mediated through the application end without reported safety incidents, reflecting how technology can accompany passenger users and driver users to provide an experience when connecting with greater confidence and peace of mind.
