Santiago.– Drivers operating with the Uber platform in Santiago reported that they continue to receive deductions on some trips, despite paying for the Uber Pass, a subscription model that, as they explain, allows them to keep 100% of their earnings during the contracted period.
The drivers indicated that they pay RD$730 for a 24-hour pass, with the expectation of not receiving additional deductions for the trips made. However, they claim that the platform continues to debit money on some rides.
“We pay for the Uber Pass and they keep charging us,” expressed one of the affected drivers, who asked to keep their identity confidential for fear of retaliation.
Likewise, they reported that on occasions they acquire the pass, but due to situations beyond their control, they are unable to go out to work that day. Even so, they state that the platform charges the full amount, without offering the possibility of recovering the money corresponding to the unused time.
Drivers also pointed out that, when they file claims through Uber’s support channels, they receive a response stating that the deducted amounts will be refunded. However, they maintain that this situation happens frequently, which has caused unrest among those who use this system.

Given this situation, they requested that the company review the operation of the Uber Pass and correct the charges they consider improper, understanding that the purpose of the subscription is to avoid paying additional fees for trips taken.
What does Uber say about Uber Pass?
According to the company, the Uber Driver Pass is a subscription model through which driver partners can keep 100% of the value of their accumulated weekly earnings, in exchange for the payment of a fixed fee.
Uber explains that, although service fees may apply to some trips, those amounts are offset in the weekly balance. If at the end of the week the driver paid more than the corresponding amount for that concept, the difference will be refunded no later than the following Tuesday.
The company also specifies that the 24 and 72-hour passes are counted continuously from the moment of their activation, regardless of whether the driver uses the application or not during that period.
However, the drivers consulted rejected that explanation and asserted that, in their experience, refunds are not always reflected in their accounts, so they insist that they continue to be affected by deductions they consider unjustified.
