New York.- Google unveiled this Wednesday the new Pixel 10a, the most economical version of its line of
smartphones, which will be available from March 5 for $499.
The device integrates the Tensor G4 processor - the same one used by its flagship models - and 8 GB of RAM, so it can run advanced artificial intelligence (AI) functions.
"The Pixel 10a is the only phone in its category, under $500, that offers the incredible Pixel camera experience, Google's time-saving AI features, and unsurpassed protection and longevity," the company highlighted in a press conference with journalists before today's presentation.
A completely flat design
The Pixel 10a features a redesign that prioritizes ergonomics, with a completely flat back and a camera bar that merges with the phone's body, eliminating the characteristic protrusion of previous models.
"It lies perfectly flat wherever you place it," noted the company, which also highlighted that this model "employs the most recycled materials in the history of the range" by using cobalt, copper, gold, tungsten, and recycled aluminum.
The new model comes in lavender, raspberry, fog gray, and obsidian colors. It has a 6.1 x 2.9 inch (width) screen and weighs 6.5 ounces (183 grams).
AI-assisted photography
The device features a dual-camera system, consisting of a 48 MP main sensor and a 13 MP ultra-wide angle, and has various AI options for image editing, such as 'Camera Coach', which uses Gemini models to advise the user on lighting and 'Include Me' which allows adding people to group photos intelligently.
The company also points out that the Pixel 10a's screen is 11% brighter than the previous year's.
In addition, the company announced the inclusion of security services such as 'Satellite SOS' for the first time in this series.
