Santo Domingo.– The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, led the start of the first national generation of training in artificial intelligence (AI) aimed at university professors who will act as multipliers of knowledge, marking the formal starting point of the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CEIA). The initiative, resulting from the strategic agreement signed with NVIDIA, is coordinated by the Ministry of the Presidency (MINPRE) along with the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) and the Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC), and is part of the National Initiative for Sovereign Artificial Intelligence. The CEIA has been conceived as an academic and technological hub for advanced training, applied research, and innovation, open to students, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Its implementation consolidates the governmental vision of turning the Dominican Republic into a regional benchmark in the development and strategic application of artificial intelligence. The first promotion is made up of teachers from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and ITLA, who will receive specialized training in applied artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity and high-performance computing.
