Santo Domingo.– The Independencia Corridor continues to demonstrate significant progress in the transformation of the Integrated Public Transportation System, by registering the mobilization of 178,094 passengers between February 16 and 19, 2026, as part of its test phase.
During this period, the operation began with 34 buses in service on the 16th, transporting 31,684 users, and progressively increasing its capacity to reach 61 units in circulation on the 19th, when 52,160 passengers were moved in a single day. In total, the buses traveled 17,586.64 kilometers, guaranteeing coverage, frequency, and efficiency on one of the main arterial roads of the capital.
These results reflect not only adequate operational planning, but also the positive response of the citizenry to a service that is committed to greater organization, security, and comfort. The progressive increase in buses in circulation demonstrates the government's willingness to strengthen public transport, reduce waiting times, and offer a modern and dignified alternative for thousands of Dominicans who depend daily on this corridor.
