National Police agents Spanish, in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), have dismantled what is considered the largest methamphetamine trafficking organization in Europe, a drug that was introduced into Spain hidden in shipments of marble stones imported from Mexico.
In this intervention, the second phase of Operation Saga, which resulted in the second-largest methamphetamine seizure on the continent, nine people were arrested, the General Directorate of Police reported this Wednesday in a press release.
Among those arrested is a member of the Sinaloa Cartel and the owner of a marble company that received the stones imported from Mexico with which the drug was introduced.
After several investigations, the agents arrested a businessman who used his marble company to introduce the narcotic substance hidden in stones of this material imported from Mexico. In the search carried out in one of its industrial warehouses, nearly 3,000,000 euros (about 3.5 million dollars) were found hidden in a bunker under the floor. In turn, the alleged leader of this criminal network of drug traffickers, who coordinated operations between Dubai and Mexico, was arrested, as well as the remaining members of the group.

In the first phase of this operation, in 2024, the largest supply point for these drugs in Europe was dismantled, in collaboration with the DEA, with 1,800 kilos of methamphetamine seized from a Spanish-Mexican organization that allowed the trafficking of this substance through Tenerife, Madrid, Valencia and Alicante. 40 kilos of methamphetamine in a statue Following this blow, the agents, led by the Central Court of Instruction 6 of the Spanish National Court, detected that the members of the organization were trying to restructure themselves economically both in Mexico and in Spain. In July 2024, the Police arrested a historical drug trafficker on the island of Tenerife, suspected recipient of a shipment of 40 kilos of methamphetamine hidden in the base of a marble statue over one and a half meters tall.
