Nicaragua and Russia have signed this Monday trade and economic cooperation agreements in the territories of the people's republics of Lugansk and Donetsk, the provinces of Zaporozhie and Kherson and the city of Sevastopol, in Crimea.

The document signing ceremony took place in Moscow, with the participation of the Advisor for Investments, Trade and International Cooperation of the Presidency of Nicaragua, Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, and representatives of the aforementioned regions. The event was also attended by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, and the director of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia, Veronika Skvortsova.

"It fills us with honor to sign these cooperation agreements with these regions and republics that have endured the onslaughts, fascist attacks against their peoples, against their cultures, that have attacked the lives of their citizens and that have claimed their historical right to be an integral part of the Russian Federation," declared Ortega Murillo.

"And today we are here to confirm that we are ready to strengthen and fortify the bonds of cooperation in all fields with our dear brothers. Russia and Nicaragua are countries and peoples with a historical relationship of brotherhood," he added.

"We are ready to receive delegations from the republics and regions with which we are signing these agreements in Nicaragua. And, of course, also send delegations to these republics and regions to get to know each other better and establish these cooperation ties in a practical, effective way, as we have been doing with the Russian Federation," added Ortega Murillo.

In statements to RT, Ortega Murillo recalled that Nicaragua has "a large amount of products that may be interesting" and even necessary, such as food products, products from the agricultural sector, which are "of high quality and could have a new market there".

The Latin American country, in turn, will be able to learn more from these regions and find out in what they could cooperate "in a way that benefits both," he added.

"I undoubtedly hope to focus the initial efforts on how to support a people who have suffered. Who have suffered attacks, who have suffered extermination, who have simply suffered the fascism that has fallen upon these regions," he emphasized.

For his part, Denis Pushilin, who leads the Donetsk People's Republic, indicated that for this "it is very important to establish cooperation in all possible areas." "And I am not just referring to the economic potential, which is undoubtedly yet to be discovered in our regions. I am also referring to other areas in which we also have much to contribute: culture, education, sports," he highlighted.

The leader of the Luhansk People's Republic, Leonid Pasechnik, noted that the subscription of important agreements with Nicaragua has been possible thanks to the reunification with Russia. "Very recently, Nicaragua recognized the regions of Donbass and Novorossiya as an integral part of the Russian Federation, and today that recognition has taken practical expression," he pointed out.

Pasechnik also stated that the agreement with Nicaragua will contribute to the development of the "enormous industrial potential of Donbass and Novorossiya", opening up new perspectives for these regions.

"It will allow establishing mutually beneficial contacts between the companies of Lugansk and potential foreign partners. Undoubtedly, this will have a positive effect on the economy of our republic. We have a lot to offer: metallurgical, processing, and agricultural products," he expressed.
