Santo Domingo.– Gregory Adames, who served as the head of logistics and events at the Jet Set nightclub since 2018, stated that he handed over to the Public Ministry Public a cell phone containing conclusive evidence about the structural conditions of the venue before the collapse that caused the death of more than 230 people and at least 180 injured. Adames revealed that in that device there are videos and direct conversations with the businessman Antonio Espaillat, owner of the establishment, where he expressly warned him that the roof of the Jet Set presented a serious deterioration and that "it was falling." Among the included messages, the former employee claims to have warned about the lack of conditions to hold the April 8th party, which was carried out despite the warnings and was headed by the merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who also lost his life during the collapse.

"I handed over my cell phone with all the evidence. I gave it to the Public Ministry. They are not going to silence me. If something happens to me, I hold the Espaillat family responsible," Adames declared in a choked voice.

He stated that he has remained silent for two months out of fear, but decided to speak when he saw how "the facts are distorted and attempts are made to blame people who had no decision-making power."

“This is not about attacking for the sake of attacking. It's about more than 200 dead, orphaned children, destroyed families. We must speak with humanity, not with economic interest,” he maintained.

Gregory Adames concluded by calling for justice for the victims and for responsibilities to be assumed with the truth in front: "It hurts me what happened. It hurts me personally and humanly. I had affection for those people, but the truth cannot be hidden."
