Lima.- The Peruvian presidential candidate Napoleon Becerra, who was one of the 36 aspirants to the head of state in the general elections next April in Peru, died in a traffic accident while heading to fulfill a proselytizing activity in the south of the country, sources from his party and official media reported this Sunday.
Becerra, who led the leftist Workers and Entrepreneurs Party (PTE-Peru), suffered the accident on the Vía de los Libertadores highway, in the Huancavelica region, when he was traveling to the neighboring Ayacucho region, declared to the RPP radio station the candidate for deputy for Lima by his grouping Emely Silva.

"We were informed a few minutes ago about the accident by colleagues who are in the area and were traveling with him. They have notified us that our president (Napoleon Becerra) has passed away," Silva pointed out.
