Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Institute for Evaluation and Research of Educational Quality (Ideice) announced the opening of the Award for Transformative Educational Evaluation and Research (Preiet) 2026.
The award, organized in coordination with the Ministry of Education (Minerd), recognizes and rewards studies of impact that have provided key data for the improvement of educational processes and driven transformations in the national pre-university education system.
The Executive Director of Ideice, Dr. Jesús Andújar Avilés, at a press conference, convened, as of this Tuesday, May 26, the entire educational community, non-state universities, independent researchers, academics, and teachers, to submit their projects to one of the four categories of the award, described in the Preiet base document, published on the portal www.ideice.gob.do.
Andújar Avilés, accompanied by educational authorities, highlighted that the initiative also aims to make visible the research that contributes to consolidating the Dominican Republic as a regional benchmark in educational innovation and evaluation.
Announced that this second call of the Preiet has as a novelty, the expansion of the opportunities for applications to researchers and evaluators in the educational field with professional profiles from different university careers, without restrictions, who demonstrate their qualifications and their vocation in educational research.

Similarly, he specified that Dominican and foreign researchers with a recognized research trajectory can apply, whose work has made contributions to the Dominican pre-university education system.
Likewise, it was pointed out that the call is open to researchers residing in the country or abroad who demonstrate the completion of studies that benefit national education, whether in the national territory or the educational community abroad.
Encouraged those interested to submit their proposals until August 10 of this year, the date on which the reception of applications in all categories of Preiet 2026 concludes.
Categories that the Preiet will award
Doctor Jesús Andújar Avilés, accompanied by Adrián Gutiérrez, in charge of Research; Deyanira Matrillé, coordinator of the award; Radhamés Silverio, vice-rector of Research and Postgraduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD); Modesto Cruz, representative of the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic, and Glenny Bórquez, executive vice-rector of the Félix Evaristo Mejía Campus of the Instituto Superior de Formación Docente Salomé Ureña (Isfodosu), informed that the award, aimed at recognizing works that provide real data to improve pre-university education in the country, has four categories. During his appearance, he stated that the Ideice initiative, in category A (Research Trajectory), will recognize researchers with more than five years of making significant contributions to educational quality in the areas of curriculum development and learning achievements. Likewise, in a second category B (Transformative Impact), it will distinguish researchers with at least five years of positive results evidenced in the development of the educational center as a space for innovation and management. The Preiet, in category C (Emerging Researcher), will honor young researchers whose initial contributions are valued for their understanding of educational reality and its potential impact on educational improvements. And, finally, in category D (Special Recognition) aimed at researchers with extensive experience and scientific production linked to the quality of teaching practices, highlighting innovative methodologies that have made exceptional contributions to educational quality.About Ideice
