Vatican City, June 27 (EFE).- Pope Leo XIV indicated to the members of the Church that "in a time of great and terrible conflicts", "there is no place for divisions or hatred of any kind", in the homily of the mass he celebrated this Friday on the occasion of the Jubilee of priests in St. Peter's Basilica.

"In a time of great and terrible conflicts, that the love of the Lord, by which we are called to let ourselves be embraced and molded, is universal, and that in his eyes -and therefore also in ours- there is no place for divisions or hatred of any kind," said the American pontiff.

Leo XIV recalled that in his inaugural message of his pontificate he already expressed his desire for "a united Church, a sign of unity and communion, which becomes a leaven for a reconciled world".

Then he urged the priests to remain "reconciled, united, transformed by the love that springs abundantly from the Heart of Christ".

"Let us walk together in his footsteps, humble and determined, firm in faith and open to all in charity, let us bring the peace of the Risen One to the world, with that freedom that comes from knowing ourselves loved, chosen and sent by the Father," he told them.

Nearly 3,600 religious figures gathered for this ceremony in St. Peter's Basilica, where the ordination of 32 new priests from 23 countries also took place.

To these, the Pope advised them to "be generous, fervent in the celebration of the sacraments, in prayer, especially in adoration and in ministry, be close to their flock, donate their time and energy to everyone, without sparing themselves, without making differences".

"Our world often proposes questionable and inconsistent models of success and prestige," he warned, before asking them "not to be fooled by them."

And he concluded: "Rather look at the solid example and the fruits of the apostolate, often hidden and humble, of those who in life have served the Lord and their brothers with faith and dedication, and keep their memory with their fidelity." EFE
