Kristi Noem will cease to be the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, a position that will be assumed from March 31 by Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin, announced this Thursday the U.S. President, Donald Trump.
Through its platform, Truth Social, he praised Noem for serving the country "effectively." He indicated that the so-called 'migrant hunter' obtained "numerous and spectacular results (especially on the border!)".

The dismissal comes after the death of two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis at the hands of agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is under the command of the Department of Homeland Security. Now Noem will be a special envoy for the 'Shield of the Americas', the new security initiative for the American continent that Trump will present along with leaders of the region next Saturday in Miami, Florida.In December 2025, the leaders of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, and Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, signed a memorandum of understanding under the name 'Shield of the Americas', to "unite efforts in security, development and regional coordination".
