Santo Domingo.– Geologist and political analyst Osiris de León stated that the transparency and ethical firmness that characterized doctor and engineer Ramón Alburquerque may have prevented him from reaching higher political positions, considering that in many political scenarios support and convenience are prioritized over the truth.
De León offered these statements after attending this Saturday at the Memorial funeral home, where the remains of the prominent political leader are being displayed, whose death has generated national consternation. Asked whether that integral conduct represented an obstacle in his political career, Osiris de León responded that in some cases it was evident, pointing out that political dynamics often favor complacency over honesty."Many times in politics, support, solidarity, and convenience are prioritized, and not the truth. Ramón was a man who did not negotiate with the truth," he expressed.
Alburquerque firmly defended his positions
He explained that Alburquerque firmly defended his positions, whether from the government or from the opposition, and only modified them when it was scientifically proven that his approach was incorrect. "If he understood that a project was good, he defended it; if it was bad, he said so bluntly. He didn't change his position until reality proved otherwise," he maintained. You may be interested in: Hipólito Mejía: “I spoke with Ramón Alburquerque ten days ago, but cancer is a cursed disease”
He added that this stance, although it may have limited his political rise at certain times, earned him the respect of even his adversaries, consolidating a legacy based on coherence, ethics, and commitment to the country's development. The remains of former Senate president and prominent political leader Ramón Alburquerque are being displayed this Saturday at the Memorial Funeral Home, located on 27 de Febrero Avenue, almost corner of Núñez de Cáceres. Alburquerque died at the age of 76, after battling liver cancer.
