Santo Domingo. – The executive director of the Association of Contractors and Suppliers of the State (ACS), Ricardo González Hernández, described as "positive, well-structured and transcendental" the process promoted by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to modernize the identity and electoral card of Dominicans, highlighting its impact both nationally and internationally. During an interview, González Hernández emphasized that the specifications designed by the JCE were prepared with technical rigor, which has allowed the doors to be opened to an unprecedented transformation of the Dominican Civil Registry.

The director of the ACS, who serves as an advisor to one of the consortia participating in the process, highlighted that the new ID card will be a document with global validity and functionality, allowing Dominicans to access identification services in multiple countries.

In addition to physical access, the new document will include digital functionalities, allowing its integration with mobile devices and facilitating identity validation anywhere in the world. For González Hernández, this represents a technological leap that puts the Dominican Republic in line with countries like Germany, Canada or Panama, which have embraced these advances for decades.

This project is part of the JCE's institutional efforts to modernize the national identity system, and is currently in the awarding phase, in compliance with the guidelines established in public tender JCE-CCC-LPl-2024-0001.
