Santo Domingo.– The National Council on Disability (CONADIS) valued the launch of the SeNaSa InTEgrA program, promoted by the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), as a significant step towards inclusion and social protection, an initiative aimed at guaranteeing comprehensive care and medical coverage to affiliated persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through an articulated network of public and private services with an interdisciplinary approach.
Prior to its official presentation, an inter-institutional working table was held in which CONADIS participated along with other entities, with the presence of its president Benny Metz, the executive director Alexis Alcántara and Candy Durán, head of the Department of Services for People with Disabilities, with the aim of strengthening technical coordination and ensuring that the program responds to the real needs of people with autism and their families.
This space allowed for the integration of recommendations from the human rights, accessibility, and social inclusion approach promoted by the institution, in line with the provisions of Law 34-23 on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which promotes comprehensive care and the guarantee of rights for this population in the Dominican Republic.
