Santiago.- With typical music and a celebratory atmosphere, educational authorities received this Monday in Santiago the delegation from the Cometas de Esperanza educational center, awarded in Spain with the Ibero-American Quality Award, a recognition that places Dominican public education in a prominent position internationally. The delegation, headed by its director, teacher Andrea Suero, was received by Regional Directorate 08 of the Ministry of Education (Minerd) after arriving in the country through the Cibao International Airport, where the significance of the award for the North region and for the national education system was highlighted. During the welcome ceremony, Andrea Suero explained that this award constitutes the highest recognition a public institution can aspire to within this international competition.

"It is the result of a sustained trajectory, based on rigorous processes, transparent management and quality standards that allow us to compete globally," he expressed.

The director of the educational center, located in the Cienfuegos sector of the Santiago Oeste municipal district, highlighted that it had previously obtained distinctions, but that with this award it reaches the Trajectory to Excellence category, reserved for institutions that maintain high levels of quality consistently. For his part, the regional director of Education 08, Pedro Pablo Marte, described the achievement as an encouragement for the entire Dominican educational community.

"From a vulnerable area, with young teachers and a committed management, today a clear message is sent that quality public education is possible," he stated.

Marte considered the award as "a great victory for Dominican education" and urged directors and teachers of the country to adopt the Cometas de Esperanza model as a reference to improve performance and quality in educational centers. Regional Directorate 08 reported that in the coming days, activities will be carried out to recognize and socialize the experience of the award-winning center, so that it serves as inspiration and guidance for other educational institutions nationwide.
