Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that during the month of August, 35,276 Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory situation were deported, a number that brings the total to 250,741 foreigners who have been returned to their country so far this year.
Repatriations are carried out after individual treatment in the processing centers that the DGM has in different territorial demarcations and where each person's biometric data and fingerprints are taken, in addition to investigating the real status and condition of each one. Haitian nationals are handed over directly to the authorities of their country.
The DGM statistics show that August deportations constitute the highest amount processed in a month during the course of this year. In January there were 31,221, in February 26,659, in March 28,534, in April 32,540, in May 34,290, in June 30,759 and in July 31,462.

In the recently concluded month, specifically, 12,457 undocumented Haitians were deported from the Haina center, 1,309 from Santiago, and 843 from Benerito. Also, 10,314 through Dajabón, 6,184 through Elías Piña, 1,264 through Jimaní, and 2,905 through Pedernales.
