La Romana.– The Toros del Este announced the contract renewal of six pitchers —four relievers and two starters— as part of their strategy to preserve the strength of the pitching staff and prevent these key pieces from entering free agency in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League.

General Manager Jesús Mejía informed that relievers Yaramil Hiraldo, Miguel Castro, Gerson Moreno, and José Adames will remain in the team, as well as starters Félix Peña and Pedro Fernández. "It's an important first step to retain quality arms that are key to our pitching staff. We will continue to make moves in the coming days," said the executive. Among the relievers, Hiraldo stood out as one of the most dominant of last season, recording an ERA of 1.29 in the regular season and allowing only one run in nine innings during the postseason, with 13 strikeouts and a batting average allowed of .151. Moreno was also a key player from the bullpen, participating in 24 regular season games in which he allowed only four runs in 19.1 innings, with 23 strikeouts and an opponent's batting average of .203. Adames, a native of La Romana, compiled an effectiveness of 3.46 between the regular season and playoffs, while Castro will return after his first participation in LIDOM after 11 seasons in Major Leagues, a stage in which he struck out 14 batters in 14.2 innings during the 2025-26 season. The pitchers Peña and Fernández, although they did not see action with the club last season, are part of the organization's immediate plans, which continues negotiations with other members of its core with a view to maintaining a competitive base for the next campaign.
