Santo Domingo. – According to the Dominican Republic's Meteorology Institute (INDOMET), since the early hours of the morning, increased cloudiness is observed in some towns of the Caribbean coastal area, with isolated showers and occasional wind gusts associated with an active tropical wave located over Haiti, with its greatest rainfall activity over the Caribbean Sea, especially over the provinces of Peravia, San José de Ocoa, and Barahona. In that sense, these afternoon and early evening precipitations will be moving in the form of locally moderate to heavy downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts, especially in the provinces: Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Peravia, Azua, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, San Juan, Elías Piña, among other locations.

For tomorrow Wednesday, a trough is forecast in the upper levels of the troposphere and the approach of a new tropical wave, both factors will be generating humidity with some showers in sectors of the Caribbean coastal plain and the northeastern portion of the country, during the morning hours. However, in the afternoon the showers will be of greater intensity with thunderstorms and wind gusts, mainly towards the northwest line, the northeast, the Central Mountain Range and locations in the border area. These precipitations will last until the early hours of the night. In the rest of the country, an opaque sky with scattered clouds will prevail. Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico or America: Tropical Storm Fernand is located about 1020 km east/northeast of Bermuda. With maximum sustained winds it has increased to about 75 km/h and is moving north/northeast at about 22 km/h. This system, due to its position and movement, poses no danger to the Dominican Republic. Regarding maritime conditions, for the Atlantic coast, from Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) to Cabo Cabrón (Samaná) and the Caribbean coast, from Paraíso (Barahona) to Isla Beata, operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels are advised to remain in port due to wind and abnormal waves, while on the rest of both coasts, navigate with caution, near the coastal perimeter and without venturing out to sea. wind.
