JCE presents new identity and electoral card to Codessd and Citizen Participation

Santo Domingo. – The plenary of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) presented yesterday Monday to the Economic and Social Development Council of Santo Domingo (CODESSD) and the Civic Movement Citizen Participation (PC), the project of the new identity and electoral card, with the aim of publicizing the innovations and improvements that the official document of Dominicans will have. The meeting was held at the facilities of the Instituto Especializado Superior in Formación Política Electoral y del Estado Civil (IESPEC), where the magistrates of the JCE presented the technical and security characteristics incorporated by the new ID card, designed under international identification standards. Among the most outstanding aspects are greater guarantees against forgery, electronic functionalities, and a comprehensive approach to the modernization of the civil and electoral registry system. The members of its National Council were present on behalf of Citizen Participation: Santiago Sosa, Alcibíades Moreta, Betty del Villar, Erick Hernández-Machado, Josefina Arvelo, Leidy Blanco and Ramón Stalin Montero, who positively valued the initiative and showed interest in its application. While representing CODESSD, its president Samuel Sena, accompanied by the new board of directors of the entity, Peter Read, vice president, Pascal Peña, secretary, Persio Sully Maldonado, treasurer, Elizabeth Mena, member, Leimy Lora, member and Emilio Encarnación, member. Sena highlighted the importance of organized civil society actively participating in the socialization of a document of such significance for democracy and citizenship.

The JCE emphasized that this process of presentations and dialogue with different sectors seeks to strengthen public trust, promote transparency, and ensure that the new identity and electoral card is a modern, secure, and inclusive instrument. With this step, the electoral body reaffirms its commitment to bring its initiatives closer to Dominican society and to ensure that the new ID card meets the highest international standards.
