UFHEC will train academic leaders with a Doctorate in Education Sciences

Santo Domingo.- The Universidad Federico Henríquez y Carvajal (UFHEC) formally launched the Doctorate in Education Sciences, a 4th level academic program, which seeks to respond to the needs of society to raise the educational level of teachers and produce research that impacts the Dominican education system. The national rector of UFHEC, Alberto Ramírez Cabral, stated that "The transformation of education begins with the preparation of those who teach, which is why we are committed to the training of academic leaders capable of investigating, innovating and providing solutions to the difficulties affecting our education system." The opening of the program was announced with an International Seminar on Educational Research that brought together national and international specialists from the University of Paris XII, with doctors Pascal Lafont and Marcel Pariat with a Master Conference on Educational Research in the European Context. Ramírez explained that the program is headed by professors from the University of Paris XII, in addition to prominent professionals who are part of the International Education, Training and Development Network (REDFORD), which includes the University of Coruña, Spain, as well as Mexico and Peru, which will allow doctoral students to benefit from diverse pedagogical experiences and approaches.

“80% of the faculty are international. It's a strong emphasis on action research. The doctorate will help create the Pedagogical Research Laboratory, similar to the Environmental Services Research Laboratory (LISA) in which the impact of sargassum on the Dominican coasts is investigated in this institution of higher education,” he explained.

The International Education, Training and Development Network, an academic network of European and Latin American universities that promotes cooperation in education and training between both regions. Among the countries that make up the REDFORD are Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, and the Dominican Republic, with UFHEC being the university that integrates it, among others.
