Bad Bunny's catalog could generate $788,500 a week, according to Billboard

Los Angeles (USA).- The Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny could be generating $788,500 weekly from his music catalog through digital platform streams in the United States, according to estimates by Billboard.

The specialized magazine, relying on data from Luminate, estimates that, based on those figures, the performance of the Puerto Rican artist in the Super Bowl could represent a weekly net profit of almost 1.7 million dollars.

Artists who have headlined the show of one of the most popular events in the U.S. have experienced an average increase of 60% in their catalog earnings during the second week after the Super Bowl, compared to the week before the game, according to the same data.

The designation of the Puerto Rican as the main artist of the Super Bowl, which will be held on February 7 in Santa Clara (California), has generated criticism among Republican leaders, who criticize that his music is in Spanish.

The President of the United States himself, Donald Trump, called the NFL's choice of Bad Bunny as the headlining artist for the Super Bowl halftime show "absolutely ridiculous."

"I've never heard of him (...) I don't know who he is, I don't know why they do it. It's crazy. I think it's absolutely ridiculous," the president said during his intervention in the Greg Kelly Reports program, broadcast on Monday night on Newsmax.

Bad Bunny, known for his critical stance against Trump's immigration policies, will make history by becoming the first Latin artist to perform solo during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Shortly after the NFL announcement, one of the Department of Homeland Security advisors, Corey Lewandowski, stated that the Government would deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during the event.

However, the White House later clarified that there are no plans to conduct immigration raids in the context of the Super Bowl.
