Daddy Yankee recommends new artists sign prenuptial agreements

Miami, October 15 (EFE). – After almost three decades of marriage and a recent divorce process, Daddy Yankee advises new artists to consider signing prenuptial agreements before getting married. He expressed this in an exclusive interview with Billboard magazine, where he spoke openly about the lessons his separation from Mireddys González, mother of his two children, left him. "Even if you're not yet famous or successful, get married with prenuptial agreements. Music is unpredictable," warned the Puerto Rican, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez. The recommendation comes after legal disputes with his ex-wife, who allegedly tried to restrict the use of his professional trademarks, including his iconic stage name Daddy Yankee and the initials DY.

Last week it was reported that both parties reached a legal agreement that will allow the artist to continue using their names and pseudonyms without restrictions, after filing a lawsuit in the Federal Court of Hato Rey, in San Juan.

A New Spiritual and Musical Direction

Beyond the legal aspects, the reggaeton idol revealed that he is undergoing a profound personal transformation motivated by his renewed Christian faith. After temporarily retiring from the stage in 2023 with his farewell tour "La Última Vuelta", Yankee affirms that his mission now is to use music as a tool for spiritual change.

“This isn't just about making Christian music. The real challenge is to bring the Kingdom to pop culture. I can't convert and stay silent,” declared the artist on the cover titled "Reborn" of Billboard, where he details his conversion process.

His return to the stage will be on October 23rd at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, during the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards. There he will offer a special performance, marking his comeback after almost two years of retirement. She will also participate in her first public interview in three years, during Latin Music Week, in a conversation with Leila Cobo, executive director of Latin content for the magazine. During his retirement, he released the song “Smile”, a Christian song with which he began this new stage. He is currently working on an album focused on messages of faith, without neglecting his artistic essence.
