Santo Domingo. – Doctor Fernando Alberto Defilló Avenue, located in the Evaristo Morales sector, resumed its normal vehicular flow this Friday after having been temporarily closed on Thursday due to the heavy floods caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Melissa.

During today's day, brigades from the National District City Council carried out cleaning and drainage work in the area, allowing traffic to be restored and the debris obstructing the road to be removed.

Residents and drivers expressed relief after the reopening, highlighting that the overflow of the rainwater drainage system is a recurring problem whenever heavy rains occur.

"Fortunately, everything is flowing normally today, but a definitive solution is needed urgently," said one of the area's residents.

Municipal authorities reiterated their call to the population to keep the streets free of garbage to avoid blockages in the storm drains and prevent new floods in the face of possible downpours in the coming days.
