Bellapart Museum presented the documentary "Colson: Renew or Die"

Santo Domingo. - The Bellapart Museum and Agencia Bella presented the avant-première of the documentary “Colson: Renovarse o Morir”, a tribute to the Dominican painter Jaime Colson, considered one of the most influential plastic artists of the 20th century and an essential figure in the construction of Dominican visual identity. This special screening, which began with a gala at 6:30 P.M. at Caribbean Cinemas in Downtown Center, was held with the presence of the First Lady of the Republic, Raquel Arbaje de Abinader, members of the Bellapart Family, relatives of Jaime Colson, historians, art and film critics, media, and special guests. In her welcoming remarks, Mrs. Maribel Bellapart pointed out that "This premiere constitutes a milestone for the visual arts of the country because it offers new generations access to the history of a master who broke the mold and paved the way while strengthening the appreciation of our cultural heritage and contributing to the international projection of Dominican art."

Mrs. Maribel Bellapart also highlighted: "At the same time, it will strengthen the appreciation of our cultural heritage and contribute to the international projection of Dominican art, which has been one of the premises in the vision of the Bellapart Museum, created by my parents, Milagros Álvarez de Bellapart and Juan José Bellapart, and open to the public since 1999." He announced that the screening of this documentary is scheduled to be presented at the Banreservas Cultural Center in the Colonial City in December; at the Centro León in Santiago, in January 2026; and, next February it will be screened at the Milken Institute in Washington and at the Centro Cultural Perelló, in Baní. Likewise, its exhibition is planned in film festivals and international cultural spaces. With this documentary, the Bellapart Museum reaffirms its commitment to the preservation, dissemination, and promotion of great Dominican creators, in this case Jaime Colson, as was always the wish of Juan José Bellapart. The documentary was sponsored by Universal de Seguros and Banreservas. Among the personalities who attended the premiere of “Colson: Renovarse o Morir” are Carlos Andújar, Gamal Michelén, Amable Sterling, Iris Pérez, Juan Miguel Grisolía Pichardo, Laura Gil, María del Pilar Bellapart, Marianne de Tolentino, Marina Grisolía, Myrna Guerrero Villalona, Orlando José Menicucci Morel, Said Musa, among other personalities. The production company of “Colson: Renovarse o Morir” is Larimar Films; direction and screenplay, Gina Guidicelli; co-director, Elsa Turull de Alma, executive vice president at Larimar Films; producer, Antonio Alma Iglesias, president of Larimar Films. The production team also includes Jaime Gómez, director of photography; Héctor Carbuccia, still photography; Isabella Smester, editing and post supervisor; Freddy Arturo Ginebra, musicalization; and Freddy Jana, poster design.
