Miami.– María Sol Messi, sister of the Argentinian soccer player Lionel Messi, suffered a traffic accident in the city of Miami, United States, days before her wedding, initially scheduled for January 3rd in the city of Rosario, Argentina. The 32-year-old woman presented various injuries as a result of the incident, including significant burns and the fracture of two vertebrae, in addition to injuries to her wrist and heel. The information was released on the night of December 22 through the Argentine program LAM and was later confirmed by Celia Cuccittini, mother of Lionel and María Sol Messi. According to reports from journalists of the aforementioned television space, María Sol would have suffered a decompensation while driving a van in Miami, which caused her to crash into a wall. As a result of the crash, she suffered a “very significant burn on her wrist”, as well as fractures in two vertebrae, the heel and the wrist, as specified by her mother. Despite the severity of the accident, which allegedly occurred in the last week, María Sol managed to travel to Argentina and is currently in Rosario, where she is receiving rehabilitation sessions. The British newspaper The Sun reported that sources close to the family assured that the young woman is no longer in danger.

Celia Cuccittini explained that her daughter is emotionally affected by the dissemination of the case. "She cries because she is not media-oriented and doesn't know how to do interviews or how the information was leaked," she expressed, while confirming that the marriage will be postponed due to the long recovery process.

"The wedding is going to be delayed, which ultimately is the least important thing," she pointed out.

About the exact circumstances of the accident, doubts still persist. Although initially there was talk of a crash while driving a truck, some Argentine media have speculated about the possibility of a motorcycle accident to explain the burns, a version that has not been confirmed so far. María Sol Messi is an entrepreneur and works as a fashion designer. She owns the women's swimwear brand Bikinis Río, a project she has developed independently of her family's public recognition.
