Dominican Consulate of New Jersey, Index NJ and Join Foundation announce mobile mammogram in Paterson NJ

PATERSON, New Jersey. – A press conference was held in which the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic, UNETE Foundation, the CDI of Hackensack Meridian Health and Index New Jersey officially announced the availability of a mobile mammogram in the city of Paterson, within the framework of an inter-institutional initiative aimed at the prevention and early detection of breast cancer.

This initiative will allow for free mammograms aimed at minority communities and people without access to medical insurance, through the NJCEED (New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection) program, reaffirming the commitment of the participating institutions to the promotion of preventive health, equity in access to health services and timely and dignified care.

The consultations will be held on the last Friday of each month, starting on Friday, January 30, 2026, the date on which the first breast cancer prevention day will take place at the facilities of the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic. Subsequently, the mobile mammography unit will tour various areas of the city of Paterson, with the purpose of reducing access barriers and bringing health services closer to the community. This joint action represents a significant effort in favor of women's health, strengthening inter-institutional collaboration and contributing to the well-being of the most vulnerable communities. In the presentation, there were some words from Vice Consul Juana Iris Parra, representing Consul José Santana, Janette Garabito for the Index in New Jersey, Dr. Irma Hernández for the Únete Foundation, and Dr. Abraham Aragones, M.D., M.S., Principal Investigator – NJCEED CDI Program of Hackensack Meridian Health.
