Attention! Showers and winds will star in the forecast for this Friday

Santo Domingo. - The forecast for this Friday will be marked by scattered showers, especially in towns of La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Puerto Plata, Espaillat and Duarte, among other locations near the north coast, as a result of the incidence of a trough and the influence of the prevailing east wind, according to the results provided by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET). But in the afternoon, these precipitations will extend in the form of moderate to heavy showers locally with possible thunderstorms and wind gusts at times, over Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, San José de Ocoa, Santiago, La Vega, Azua, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, San Juan and Elías Piña. This rain activity will gradually decrease during the night. For tomorrow, Saturday, from early morning and in the morning hours, there will be passing and isolated showers, mainly over towns of: La Altagracia, Samaná, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte and Espaillat, among others. In the afternoon, the cloudiness with locally moderate showers with possible thunderstorms and wind gusts will be more frequent in locations of Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elías Piña, San Juan and Monte Cristi, as a result of the interaction of the east/northeast wind with the orography.

In that sense, at night, the rains will decrease almost nationwide, except towards the southwest region, where some cloud increases with scattered precipitation will occur. Regarding temperatures, they will remain pleasant and cool, especially in mountainous areas and inland valleys, due to the time of year, where occurrences of fogs and mists are expected. On the Atlantic coast, from Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) to Cabo Francés Viejo (María Trinidad Sánchez) we recommend operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels to remain in port, due to wind gusts and dangerous waves. For the rest of the Atlantic coastal perimeter, it is recommended to navigate with caution, without venturing out to sea. The Caribbean coast has returned to normal. Distrito Nacional: scattered clouds with slight cloud increases in the morning. In the afternoon, showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts. Santo Domingo Norte: Scattered clouds to partly cloudy at times in the morning. In the afternoon, showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts. On Sunday, despite an anticipated decrease in the intensity of the rainfall, the east/northeast wind will continue to transport cloudiness from the morning, generating some showers in sectors of Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, Hato Mayor, La Altagracia, El Seibo, Samaná, Duarte and María Trinidad Sánchez, decreasing significantly during the night, giving way to a mostly clear sky in a large part of the country.
