U.S. attacks a boat in the Pacific, leaving two dead and one survivor

Washington.- The U.S. Southern Command attacked this Monday a new boat allegedly linked to drug trafficking in international waters of the Pacific and during the attack two crew members were killed and another survived. The U.S. armed forces detailed that after the attack, the Coast Guard activated the search and rescue system to assist the crew member of the boat who survived the operation. In its X account, Southern Command detailed that the operation was ordered by General Francis L. Donovan, who has been in charge of this military division since February 5th.

More than 40 U.S. Attacks on Boats

The attack against the boat, which adds to 40 other similar ones carried out in international waters since August 2025, took place on a "well-known drug trafficking route", according to the same source.

This same Monday, the United States also carried out an attack on a submarine, in conjunction with the armed forces of Colombia, in the Pacific, achieving the destruction of 10 tons of cocaine and the arrest of four suspects. The new attack against a ship in the Pacific happens a week after the official visit of the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, to Washington, who met with his counterpart, Donald Trump, after the differences between them. The presence of U.S. military ships and aircraft in international waters began in the Caribbean and preceded the military intervention of January 3rd with which the U.S. detained the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, congresswoman Cilia Flores, in Caracas, to transfer them to a federal prison in New York.
