Bayaguana residents light candles to demand greater security

Bayaguana- On Wednesday night, residents of the municipality of Bayaguana lit candles in front of the National Police detachment, as a sign of peaceful protest to draw the attention of the authorities to the constant robberies and assaults that, according to reports, have been registered in the area. The demonstration brought together community members and merchants concerned about the increase in criminal acts, who expressed feeling frightened by the situation affecting the municipality. Several merchants stated that they live in fear, as they do not feel safe opening their businesses early or closing them at night, for fear of being victims of robberies. Protesters called on the competent authorities to reinforce patrols and adopt measures that guarantee the safety and tranquility of the citizens of Bayaguana.
